3月27日，英国首相鲍里斯·约翰逊在Twitter声称，自己确诊感染新冠肺炎。他说，“自己在过去的24小时有轻微的症状。”他表示会继续领导政府。约翰逊被认为是第一位自称感染新冠病毒的世界领导人。

同日，英国卫生大臣马修·汉考克（Matt Hancock）也确诊感染新冠肺炎。英国首席医疗官 Chris Whitty教授也表现出症状，不过，目前尚未确诊。

约翰逊首相的发言人在本周早些时候表示，如果约翰逊出现不适、无法履职，届时，外交大臣Dominic Raab将以第一大臣的身份，暂代其行使职权。
